Featured Speakers & Dignitaries

The CEGAM volunteer team have compiled a quick, simple, PRELIMINARY - bullet point partial wish list for actions that came up during the CEGAM 2011 meet and submitted the same to AACEG. Please understand that this ONLY a preliminary list and a detailed list from notes taken by the panel facilitators (AJ Balasubramaniam, Vish Viswanathan, P. Anand) and the CEGAM volunteers is being collated and prepared. The detailed report will be again submitted to AACEG with some plans for their review and execution and is expected to be ready for publishing by next week.
The idea of providing this high level list and report is to keep up the momentum as well as provide a preliminary status report at the AACEG executive committee meeting held yesterday. The idea of submitting this letter is to encourage AACEG to start thinking quickly in the directions of some of the recommendations.
We are glad to inform you that this has resulted in the AACEG EC approving in principle the idea of Regional or Local chapters across the Globe, during the EC meeting yesterday. That is a good first step. We thank them for the same. Already a group of EC members are working on the modification of the by-laws. If distinguished alumni members from different locations send their suggestions to this body through the Secretary of AACEG on this topic with your specific recommendation then the same would be incorporated, after deliberations, paving way for creation of Local Chapters. We are glad and thankful to AACEG EC for positively looking at all these recommendations.

From the detailed report, there may be different types of actionable items

1. Items that we can directly implement as this does not require approval or resources - This may done by the Office bearers by their directions
2. Items that require EC approval and funding - This may be made as a proposal and implemented with the approval of EC
3. Items that involve engaging with external bodies - This may go through EC and appropriate action will be taken.

A copy of the preliminary report letter presented to AACEG EC yesterday is uploaded and can be accessed by clicking on this link http://goo.gl/8ya07

After all with almost 840 people participating in the CEGAM meet ( 740 in person and about 100 in Video conference), there are so many ideas/suggestions/coments/crit?icisms received through several channels that needs to be culled out and organized. Our focus is on the major topics.

Once the action/initiatives list is approved and published, we will need both Volunteers who can work in person by attending meetings and Volunteers who can work electronically on the prioritized initiatives. Please get in touch with AACEG or anyone of CEGAM Volunteer team, if you would like to Volunteer. Thanks for your continued support of AACEG and CEG. Best regards.

TEAM CEGAM

Written by Jayakumar

College of Engineering, Guindy is the oldest engineering college in India. As such it has a wonderful history to tell. CEG engineers of 1966 batch have done a great job in compiling the history of the college and publishing it as an ebook "Survey School to Tech. Temple, A History of College of Engineering Guindy, 1794 - 1994". The book has many interesting information nuggets to learn, cherish and be proud of.
